Yes you're right, I had originally done padding-left and then thought it didn't seem right and in a moment of madness changed it. Padding-left is correct so thanks for pointing that out.
I'll add this to the how-tos as it's quite useful although I ended up finding it a bit irritating so took it off the site I had added it to.
